These components of the phospholipids cause them to orientate. Phospholipid bilayers are critical components of cell membranes. This means that they have a hydrophilic polar phosphate head and two hydrophobic fatty acid tails. Because in biology at least the lipid bilayer is in an aqueous environment ie.
